HAPPY
Thrive Family Daycare believes in an empathetic, caring approach to playing with children,
creating a safe, nurturing environment for kids to develop a love of learning.
HEALTHY
We provide a social interactive curriculum, designed to support young children in
personal and social relationships, revolving around a diverse range of learning activities,
which encourage the development of self-esteem.
WHOLE
Our primary goal is to promote a child’s self-value and gradual social independence by
guiding their own evolving ability to discover inner strengths, solve problems and make
decisions.
about our daycare
We offer a mixed-age program for children 6 months to 6 years
- Our program is frequently outdoor and play-based. The curriculum is child-led and emergent
- Our program is full-day: 8am-5:30pm
- Our emphasis is on social emotional development and heart-centered play
The Director, Laurence Walsh-Hodson, holds a Master’s in Psychology with an emphasis in consciousness, health and healing.
The teachers are trained in early childhood development and have a deep regard for each child.
OUR MISSION
Our mission is to support children in becoming their best selves. By demonstrating empathy and compassion, we nurture an environment of caring and feeling cherished. Through encouraging cooperation and responsibility, we help children learn healthy social interactions. By feeding kids healthy foods and creating activities, we grow imagination, fun and possibility.
OUR PHILOSOPHY
Our philosophy is a combination of the theories of Carl Rogers and Reggio Emilia. Positive regard is essential in developing a child’s sense of value. Through feeling valued, a child is free to experiment, grow and learn. There are 100 languages of learning: experimentation, play, sensory stimulation,
and observing others are all healthy methods of development.
Development happens naturally when a facilitator follows the child’s interests, responses and connections to material. In developing cognitive skills, children learn through experimentation, repetition and confirmation, building on their achievements as they feel confident. The process of development differs for each child and the child is praised and appreciated for his or her abilities. Teachers also model and encourage principles of respect, responsibility, non-violence and community.
“If it hasn’t been in the Hand, the Body and the Heart… it can’t be in the Brain.”
